2. Eclectic Yet Upscale “Downtown” District
La Jolla Boulevard, which runs through Bird Rock’s main shopping and dining district, has a plethora of quirky, independent shops and restaurants. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, winner of the 2012 Roaster of the Year Award, is a local morning staple, while Beaumont’s is a popular place to wind down the evening with happy hour. Bird Rock’s downtown area features many other services in addition to dining including dry cleaners, fitness studios, hair salons, and boutique shops AND has a more laid-back feel than other shopping districts in La Jolla.

La Jolla is known for its top-notch schools, and the Bird Rock neighborhood is no exception. In fact, Bird Rock Elementary School recently received the California Distinguished Schools Award for educational excellence. And the nearby La Jolla High School has been listed as one of the top high schools in the nation by both Newsweek and US News.
